PPE Supplier Scams : How to Vet a new supplier !

Scammers will always look for ways to con you out of your money. The Covid-19 pandemic is no different and has seen many "suppliers" come out of the woodwork. Don't be fooled into buying ineffective PPE. Check out these tips on how you can protect yourself from falling prey to scams.
During the Covid-19 pandemic a lot of new suppliers (from outside of the industry) have emerged-  all wanting to capitalize on the shortage of PPE (Personal protection Equipment) in the country. Sadly, this has attracted a lot of scammers as well.
We have listed a couple of ways that you can vet/research a new supplier:
1) Check if the company is registered with CIPC
2) Check the email of the person being used. Please look for companies with registered domains eg. @bmscientific.co.za, and not @yahoo or @gmail.com because anyone can make an email.
3) Look for a website and landline number. This gives some credibility to the company.
4) Request a Tax Clearance Certificate or registration documents.
